First, I like Ann Coulter. I think she is fearless and is not opposed to getting her hands dirty in taking the fight to the Democrats.
However, I believe she is misguided on some issues. Yesterday, she disagreed with Hannity on the future of the Tea Party and the upcoming elections.
She called some of the Tea Party candidates “Shyster’s.” Todd Akin, and several others were definitely not the most articulate. Some of their comments were ignorant at best. However, she forgets about Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, etc.. These guys have done more to advance Conservative principles than most of the Republicans in both the Senate and the House in the past decade.
My biggest problem with Coulter is her opinion of who she deems a conservative. She is adamant that anyone who supports “amnesty” should be voted out, but other than that, us Republicans need to stick together and win.
With all due respect to Ms. Coulter, she is not one to talk. She supported Chris Christie and was one of his biggest supporters. He may not believe in amnesty, but he is not what we would call a “pure” conservative. He is shaky on gay marriage, gun control, foreign policy, etc.. Does that mean Coulter is not a conservative because she messed up? Of course not. The same applies to others, especially the Tea Party.
I would argue that Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio are far more conservative than Chris Christie.
Being a conservative is not agreeing with 100% of conservative principles, but there are some that are fundamental such as the belief in small government, personal liberty, and personal responsibility.
Coulter needs to do some self reflection given that she hammers any politician she does not consider conservative, but supports others whom most conservative would consider moderate.
I don’t think she gets what the average folk really feel about RINO’s and what criteria we use to call someone a RINO. Don’t dismiss the Tea Party, and don’t pretend to know everything. If not, you’ll be left with a bad taste in your mouth such as your support for Chris Christie, especially when everyone figures out he is not a true conservative.
